Playing bridge...

We were selected to play against Richard and Susie in the first round of the Wynnstay Bridge Competition. As we lived in the same village and had only moved there a year before it was obviously a convenient draw. Far too easy.... We decided to decamp to Angelsey for the weekend for this key match. The first evening we ate oysters and lobsters and then, remembered we were there to play bridge so kicked off at 10pm. Five hours later we had failed to complete the required 3 rubbers ( !!). Therefore, we had to reconvene the following morning at 9am to complete the game. After two more hours we finished and it took us another hour to count up all the points " above the line" ( also note that Susie had phoned Peter Rosselli to get clarification on penalty points!) Thoroughly beaten by Susie and the reluctant " Omar Sharif" Richard.
It wont be any fun any more going to the Overton village hall to be taught by Andrew Robson ( at 10 in the morning) where Chris and Richard were surrounded by keen lady bridge players with Chris asking too many questions, Richard trying to work out how to deal cards with arrows on and Susie avidly using her crib sheets and asking Richard to concentrate!
Charming, amusing and a brilliant raconteur- who made everyone he met feel special.
